Oil Fields and Oceans(2021)
This weaving is based on different elements of earths maps and ecosystems, specifically ones that have been heavily polluted or taken advantage of like seas and oil basins
The Permian oil basin in the North American Southwest was my largest influence
Weaving was originally 36 inches by 10 feet before it was cut and stitched back together to make a flattened, abstract globe
Geological Time (2021)
Layers of fiber, layers of time. A woven record of the history of earth and geological time.
This is a 5 yard long weaving that flows from the earliest eon of earth, the Archean, to the epoch we are currently living in known as the Holocene.
Layer at the top is our Holocene epoch which is mostly woven with found and reused trash, I have left the remaining warp at the top unwoven and loose, we are hanging by a thread.
Knitted Landscapes (2021)
Coral and ocean formations, canyons and caves, a backyard and home, lilac and lemon fields, underwater vents and lava rock
Varying acrylic, cotton, and poly blend yarns, as well as found copper wiring
All machine knitted
( Each piece is 2’ x 3’ )
